the new municipal theater had an attendance of more than 1700 spectators. its final design was heavily inspired by the opera of paris and its interior was luxurious and covered by art pieces from the most famous brazilian artists. the opulent trend would be further expanded in a number of subsequent refurbishments in 1934, 1975 and 1996 in order to adapt the building to the ever-changing trends and population growth. the upgrades kept the theater relevant during all of its service life.
