the museu arquidiocesano de arte sacra is located in the basement of the são sebastião cathedral, the landmark cone-shaped construction often depicted on many rio postcards - founded in 1950, this museum aims at bringing together religious artifacts relating to christianity. in total there are more than 4,000 religious pieces on display, including sculptures, paintings, furniture, silverware, porcelain, clothing, medals, books, jewelry.
