the project plans included a forest with falls and lakes, taking advantage of the existing topography in an area that originally had scarce vegetation. 130 different species of plants and several trees were planted in the area.

in 2010, the government launched a project to build arena carioca de penha. with an investment of 5 million r$ in infrastructure, the project was finally inaugurated in june 2012. the arena, now home to one of the most modern cultural centers in the area, was named carlos roberto de oliveira 'dicró', after the famous brazilian samba composer who died in 2012.
