in addition to the incredible array of biodiversity within the park, there are a number of other points of cultural interest, such as an ancient aqueduct, ruins of old buildings, and dams, amongst many more. as a means of reaching these fascinating sites, the most popular activity undertaken in the park is hiking along the many trails.

one of the most unique ecological trails in parque estadual da pedra branca, leads participants to the açude camorim, which is a large dam, creating a lake that is about a quarter of the size of the rodrigo de freitas lagoon.

with an altitude of 436 metersthe dam itself is higher than the sugar loaf mountain. the trail to the dam is a gentle hike, between three and four kilometers, which can take anywhere between 90 to 120 minutes, depending on the route and pace of hikers. along the journey there is an intoxicating mix of flora and fauna, a number of natural ponds, waterfalls, and even some colonial ruins.
