beyond the royal gardens, located in the glóriadistrict near the centre of rio de janeiro, praça parisshowcases a wonderful example of a brazilian garden and the way european influences have shaped design in south america. 

designed by french architect alfred agache, as part of the important 'plano agache', the first modern urban planning intervention project of the city of rio de janeiro, the space is similar to the palace of versailles with the gardens, fountains, huge lawns, and lake harking back to an era of french extravagance.
