one of the newest editions to rio de janeiro's state park portfolio, the parque estadual da pedra selada, houses some of the state's rich atlantic forest, as well as numerous sites of archaeological, historical, scientific, and cultural significance. a great venture of education, leisure and recreation, the park also serves as an important ecological corridor, which links much of the regions forestry and conservation areas, including the itatiaia national park.

created on june 15, 2012, by state law 43,640, the park sits on the northwestern tip of rio de janeiro state, right on the border to são paulo and minas gerais, and takes up a small park of the sierra da mantiqueira apa.
