the rio da prata (silver river) flows through some incredible terrain in the vast campo grande neighborhood in the west zone of rio de janeiro. the river's banks are coveted due to the birds and monkeys who take refuge there - among them currasows, toco toucans, capuchine monkeys, agoutis, and peccaries.

there are many waterfalls that have formed as a result of the river cutting through various channels of land, and visitors are able to snorkel, swim, dive, and bathe in the clear flowing waters. gold fish, catfish, piranputangas, and even caimans have been spotted here.
