at a glance

the water of rio dos ciganos (river of the gypsies), has formed many impressive waterfalls over the years including the cascata grande and cascata dos ciganos. some of these falls are well hidden and therefore difficult to reach but the trail that leads alongside the river is full of wildlife and fauna.

the rio das pacas is named after a species of south african rodent found in parts of brazil, paraguay, and mexico. they have large heads, pig-like bodies, and swollen cheeks with long whiskers and can be found residing along the bank of the river. many small waterfalls flow from the pacas river, some of which are great for swimming and snorkeling due to the deep plunge pools and gentle cascading waters. arrow-back     arrow-forward
