the four options include coming from the north side of rio comprido, from botofogo/flemengo beaches, rising from cosme velho, and finally coasting through alto da boa vista. each offers something different with various views, architecture, and neighborhoods to take in.

many of the roads are built on steep hills so it makes for some interesting driving. after arriving by car there is short trial to get to the waterfalls, some of which have been altered so that the water runs off into areas specially designed for bathing. there are also places to relax and enjoy picnics.
