the rio mucuíba can be found in the west zone of rio de janeiro inside the parque estudal do pedra branca (white rock state park). cachoeira da mucuíba is easily reached via the rua mucuíba in the neighborhood of vargem grande, after the azendinha estate there is a left turn, followied by another left turn into a dirt road, which runs along the river paineras.

the trail is relatively easy with few mild inclines, and the path is well defined. from the beginning of the trail it only takes a brisk ten-minute walk before the first waterfall comes into view, as there are a few falls that tumble from the river's banks, many of which are particular favorites of cariocas, who often frequent the spots on the weekend with friends and family.

poço da mucuíba offers many beuatiful spots to rest and replenish, with small pools and waterslides along the way. a number of rivers merge with the creek and it gradually gains volume and force - nevertheless, cachoeira da mucuíba is a comparatively small fall, making it a popular destination for families with children.
