it is bursting with bars, nightclubs and music halls where one can enjoy samba, forró, brazilian pop, electronic music and rock, among others.   just a random stroll and simple bar-hopping lets any visitor experience all sorts of music and atmospheres, like nowhere else in rio de janeiro. 

some of the best-known are lapa 40° (a reference to the temperature in rio during the summer), rio scenarium, and circo voador.
