leblon is broadly divided into three areas - baixo (lower) leblon, alto (upper) leblon, and jardim de alah. lower leblon is the eastern end of the neighborhood that also encompasses the beachfront.

being a mostly residential neighborhood, the beach in leblon is frequented by many families with children,  and by volley-ball fans to watch perennial on-going training along the shore. 

one block from the beach is avenida ataulfo de paiva, one of the most traditional avenues in leblon, which includes such longstanding establishments as pizzaria guanabara and diagonal bar.
