at a glance
though many of the older and less secure buildings were demolished as part of a revitalization project in the area in 2009, most of the houses in the region continue to be inhabited by fishermen, whose boats can be seen as they comb the sea for mussels and other delicacies.

one of the most interesting things that can be observed from the shores of praia de salinas are the fishermen casting nets and other devices for the farming of mussels (mexilhão).

many of them split their time between the water and working in the sardine factory nearby.  arrow-back     arrow-forward
