legend says that the indian chief araribóia founded the city that later became niterói in the area near the rock, as the rock resembled his features.

from rio's zona sul, the simplest way of getting to praia das flexas  way would be by taking bus 7003 (also marked 740 d) that leaves from praça general osório in ipanema posto 8, across from the easy to spot zona sul supermarket.
