just past gragoatá beach, a stretch of paved road used to be
praia vermelha
(red beach), until urban development in the region ended up
sacrificing the sands for
avenida milton tavares de souza, the
important avenue along the shore.
while
the sands of praia vermelha may be gone, and perhaps some might
say the beach itself, the many kiosks left along this stretch of
shore offer beautiful views of rio de janeiro and are still
treasured by many residents as a place to meet friends or just
read and relax.
