this jaguar is in fact a statue of a cat, resembling a jaguar, called maracajá. maracajá belonged to a native girl who, according to the legend, used to swim at this beach - until one day she never returned to shore. her cat, maracajá, spent the rest of his days on the rock, looking out at seas and waiting for her return.
