praia do bananal, also called  praia dos flamboyants, is a small beach about 200 meters located past praia da freguesia / guanabara, at the base of the morro do bananal (hill of the banana plantation).

flamboyants are a typical tree that used to be very popular on the island, easily recognizable by the number of red flowers it produces.
