praia vermelha, or red beach, is a small section of shore nested in the urca neighborhood, between the morro da urca and the morro da babilônia. despite being so close to the entrance to the world famous sugar loaf on praça general tibúrcio (general tibúrcio square), this beautiful part of rio is not a common beach destination for international visitors. adding to the local charm, many recreational fishermen also usually stand on the rocks surrounding this beach on all sides. one of the most romantic spots in rio, praia vermelha is perfect to take rarely seen sunset pictures, or to feel away from everything.
