some vendors and one kiosks can be found on the nearby quebra mar (pier), a location from where to enjoy beautiful views of barra beach and of the tijuca islands. the pier is a favorite spot among many recreational fishermen, as it is quiet, windy, and offers great views of the coast - a short walk along this pier is certainly worth the efforts for any visitors looking to experience a gorgeous sunset while sitting in the breeze.

a city project is now underway to expand the pier further into the sea, and to build a restaurant and a mirante on the tip of the new pier, called quebra mar de barra. a video about this planned construction can be seen on this page.
