located in rio's zona oeste, praia dos amores (beach of the romances) is a small beach located at the very beginning of what becomes praia da barra (barra beach). set along the canal that joins the ocean to the lagoa da tijuca, praia dos amores has fine white sands and very calm waters, due to the pier that defines the beach's limits, called quebra mar de barra.

many jet skis can be seen going across from this beach along the canal and into the ocean, making swimming in these waters somewhat dangerous. there are no lifeguards, kiosks, biking, or sporting facilities on this beach.
