located in rio's south-west zone, and part of rio de janeiro's last untouched beaches, praia funda (deep beach) is set between praia do meio and praia do inferno - part of the the grumari natural reserve park (reserva ecológica de grumari), this is a 300 meter (900 ft) beach of soft white sand and crystalline waters inside rio's city boundaries, yet still wild, undeveloped, and away from everything.

surrounded by thick flush vegetation and steep slopes on all sides, praia funda is a tropical paradise with beautiful colors surrounding fine white sand, rich of sea shells and marine life - praia funda, along with the other four untouched beaches of rio, are only reachable via boat, or by hiking along the trail that connects them to the nearby praia barra de guaratiba.
