while geographically rio's wild beaches seem closer to grumari's beach than to barra de guaratiba's beach, via land they can only be reached from the other side of the cape, on the barra de guaratiba's side.

to get to praia funda, visitors need to reach praia barra de guaratiba (also known as praia grande) -  from there, praia funda, along with the other nearby wild beaches, can only be reached by hiking (about 3 hours to the farthest beach), or by boat. when going by boat, water conditions do not always allow to disembark as waves can be quite strong on these beaches. once at praia barra de guaratiba, local hiking guides and/or small boats can be hired on location.     arrow-back      arrow-forward
