the road connecting the rest of rio de janeiro to the praia de barra de guaratiba (praia grande), the last populated beach before the adventure beaches, goes through a protected area, and as a result the fleet of authorized buses that go back and forth on this line is limited.

getting to this part of rio via bus can be a bit complicated for visitors who are not familiar with the city, or not fluent in portuguese. starting from the zona sul, in ipanema near praça general osório where the subway stops, bus line 2334 (campo grande x castelo) stops at avenida rainha elizabeth da bélgica 11, brs3 - a five minute walk from the subway stop towards copacabana.

this bus ride is about 40 kilometers long, lasts about 100 minutes, until the bus stop at estrada barra de guaratiba 334, about 120 meters away from the bus stop for bus line 874a (marambaia x estação ilha de guaratiba), that gets to the destination at the last stop. arrow-back      arrow-forward
