after relaxing on the beach and soaking up the views travelers can indulge in some retail therapy at the nearby botafogo praia shopping or rio sul mall, just opposite the beach. 

the mostly middle-class district hosts some great bohemian bars and restaurants, and a few theatres and nightclubs.

riding a bike is a highly recommended option, as there are some great bike paths that run around botafogo beach.

to the left of the beach there is also a fitness station where it is possible to work out in the sun enjoying all the views.
