crowds here are generally hip, and include surfers, artists, and local residents - and are known for being in great shape. during the summer months, small concerts and musical events take place along this beach, many of which are not formally announced and can be found out about a few days prior on location. characterized by fine white sand, clean light-green waters, strong waves, and wide tracts between the promenade and the water, this beach has a unique and colorful cloud of kites framing the tijuca islands almost every day.
