grumari beach itself is one of the least crowded
areas in rio and, during the week and in the colder months, looks like a completely deserted strip of pristine paradise
when viewed from the hilltops.
at the lower end of the beach there is a path leading through some rugged
coastal shrub lying between the mountains and the sea.
a small number of fishermen
also live just off the path, as they go about their daily business of catching
fresh fish for the restaurants in the area.
