a short walk along this pier is certainly worth the efforts for any tourist looking to experience a gorgeous sunset while sitting in the breeze. a city project is now underway to expand the pier further into the sea, and to build a restaurant and a mirante on the tip of the new pier, called quebra mar de barra. a video about this planned construction can be seen on this page.
