set in rio's zona
south-west, inside the
natural
reserve of grumari in the grumari district,
praia de grumari
is one of rio's most beautiful beaches.
surrounded by heavy vegetation this beach is
2300 meters long, has clean greenish and blue waters, and fine golden sands.
grumari's name derives from the language of the indigenous people who
lived in brazil before the portuguese settlers landed: 'curu', 'meaning
pebbles' or 'loose stone', combined with 'mari', meaning 'water producing'.
