chatuba is the name of one of the neighborhoods which comprise the modern mesquita. 

in 2003 a group of inhabitants of this neighborhood decided to create a carnival bloc which could participate in the respective competition.

the first official parade would only be held two years later and in 2006 and 2007 the bloc managed to win the championship in the groups 3 and 2 of the championship respectively.
