
at a glance	the mesquita municipality is the most recent among the diverse cities form the area called 'baixada fluminense', just north of rio de janeiro. it gained its emancipation in 1999 when it broke away from the nova iguaçu municipality. curiously it also holds one of the most recent among the samba schools, the g. r. e. s. chatuba de mesquita.				history
