one of
the eldest neighborhoods in rio de janeiro, andaraí is located
just north of the famous
tijuca neighborhood, and it also
had one of the first samba schools to ever exist in the city.
known as floresta do andaraí
(andaraí's forest),
this was a popular and relatively successful congregation dating
back to the 1930s.
it went
on to earn two vice-championships in 1941 and 1946, but during
the 1950s it didn't managed to sustain itself and disappeared.
