It has been a long time since street art first made its way to museums all over the world, and in March 27th Brazil celebrates street artists with the Day of the Graffiti, which is also a way to commemorate Alex Vallauri, one of the country's precursors in this art form.

Eduardo Paes, in his role as prefect of Rio de Janeiro, assigned the GrafiteRio decree, supporting street artists and their work through the Carioca Graffiti Counsel (Conselho Carioca de Graffiti) and other organizations designed to revitalize the message and promote awareness. 

on this day, while no major celebration is planned, a variety local events can be expected in districts such as santa teresa and centro - home to many beautiful graffiti.
