at a glance

Burle Marx was a notorious architect from brazil, greatly responsible for the Parque do flamengo and many other iconic gardens of the city of Rio de Janeiro and others around the world - After having served the public as director of the parks and gardens department of the State of Pernambuco, he participated in several garden projects in Brazil and abroad, having planned gardens in two capitals of Brazil during their times in that role, Rio and Brasília.

In 1985 his private home was donated to the government, that turned the area into a research center and park, receiving visitors of all ages to witness the diversity of plants, most of them native from the Brazilian flora - as a research center, the institute homes courses, colloquiums and art exhibits, creating a space for intellectual and artistic growth in the middle of the perfectly manicured vegetation of his country house.
