cangas generally come in a wide variety of bright colors, symmetric patterns and prints resembling the sidewalks of copacabana and ipanema - these items are great for the beach and are often used as souvenirs for the house or outdoors - bright colored depictions of tropical animals and the city's tourist attractions are common designs.

 the next beach item on the list is a bathing suit, which is very important, and most certainly a fashion statement in itself - for men, there are two basic and easy choices, with the first option being board-shorts, or bermudas, which are popular among surfers, foreign tourists, and brazilians travelling to and from the beach.

the second option would be a sunga, which is perhaps the most minimalist choice for men - it is very common to see carioca men using sungas since they are comfortable to play beach sports in, they dry quickly, and offer better tan lines than shorts -  sungas can also be worn under long pants at the end of the beach day without having to carry them separately or find a place for them to dry.
