This visa does not apply to foreign artists that enter Brazil with an employment contract, and does not apply to participants in artistic contest that do not receive any remuneration or one-time payment by a Brazilian source, even if they may receive prizes, including cash - These artists can request a tourist visa directly to the Brazilian consular representation abroad.

What used to be a semi-involved process of securing work permit forms (Formulário de Requerimento de Autorização de Trabalho), payment of the individual tax of immigration - gru(Guia de Recolhimento da União)and the finalization of an agreement of the services, as of May 2014  has been relaxed for nationals of countries who have similar requirements for entry of Brazilian artists.
