Founded in 1958, during the height of the polio epidemic in Brazil, the Associação Fluminense de Reabilitação, AFR is a philanthropic institution which works to improve the quality of life of children, adolescents and adults with a variety of different highly complex health conditions.

Its main actions are aimed towards social inclusion, rehabilitation, social responsibility, hope, resilience and education - The institution is pioneering in the therapy and care it offers, continually implementing new approaches - It also provides training to students and professionals, and runs research and development programs.
