The Associação Brasileira de Síndrome de Rett Brazilian Association of Rett Syndrome was founded in Rio de Janeiro in 1990 by a group of parents and volunteers - Recognised by the international medical community since the early 1980s, Rett Syndrome is a neurological disorder which almost exclusively affects women.

The association works to survey existing information about the disorder and disseminate it to the scientific community and the Brazilian population at large; inform and train health and education professionals to deal with patients; research the condition; provide guidance and support to families dealing with the syndrome; and, screen and assess children suspected to be sufferers - The association can be contacted via email here or on the organization's website on this link
