Founded in 1975, Casa de Francisco de Assis, The House of Francis of Assis is a charity which provides social care to the poor, including food parcels, as well as medical, dental, psychological and legal services - They also run a community nursery, looking after 72 children from low-income families in the neighbourhood of its headquarters in Laranjeiras, and the surrounding regions.
