Founded in 1994, Abrigo Doce Morada runs a variety of different programs and institutions across the city for the support and welfare of children, adolescents and the elderly.

They have an elderly home which offers medical support, nursing, nutritionist advice, psychological services and social work; two nurseries for needy children to receive psycho-pedagogical support and nutritional counselling; a family school, bringing together parents from their nurseries; a day centre for adolescents to engage in creative art, sport and education; and a diverse range of other projects, including two book stores.
