Centro de Defesa dos Direitos da Criança e do Adolescente, CEDECA first took root in Rio in 2009, as part of an active campaign to defend and improve the human rights of children and adolescents in the state.

They use legal and social intervention strategies to uphold the rights of young people in society, as enshrined in the Constitution and Statute - They work primarily with adolescents in conflict with the law and children and adolescents living on the streets.

They also monitor public budgets for children and adolescents, and intervene in a wide range of rights violations, including abuse and exploitation. CEDECA can be contacted via email here.
