The Instituto Pró-Família da Arquidiocese, Pro-Family Institute of Rio de Janeiro was founded in 1992 by Bishop Rafael Llano Cifuentes, Bishop of the Diocese of Nova Friburgo.

The institute aims to promote marriage and conjugal union in the procreation and education of children; enhance the dignity of parents and children through the provision of care and educational and sporting services; promote natural contraception, through the use of three natural methods.
