Situated between the two high-end districts of leblon and são conrado, and next to the landmark  morro dois irmãos (Two Brothers Mountain), Vidigal has access to what can be considered its own almost-private stretch of beach, an ideal location to watch the great spectacle of the Rio sunset.

higher up in the favela is a square known as Arvrão (meaning 'big tree') boasting picture postcard vistas over leblon and ipanema, as well as the lagoa rodrigo de freitas.

Children play on the ground below, and the archetypal favela kites fly high in the sky - This area was once home to drug traffickers, who have largely vanished from the scene to leave in their wake lush greenery and playful beauty.
