The work is a truly democratic, inclusive and collaborative portal in which anyone can add information about a producer, artist, collective or venue.

The collaboration page of the website offers users the opportunity to submit specific information about cultural activities taking place in any of the city's favelas - users must elaborate where the cultural activity takes place, what the practice is, contact information, relevant social media pages, photos, videos, and other practical institutional information.

The Guia Cultural das Favelas  was produced by the Observatório de Favelas do Rio de Janeiro (Observatory of Favelas of Rio de Janeiro) with the invaluable support of 40 young favela residents.

It was developed as part of the Programa Favela Criativa (Creative Favela Program) in which young people were educated about cultural production, training and specialization.
