the Guia Cultural das Favelas (Cultural Guide of Favelas) is an interactive map that introduces residents and visitors to the wealth of diverse and dazzling cultural activities taking place in the city's communities - It was produced with the aim of re-affirming favelas' important role in the cultural tapestry of the city.
The communities of Alemăo, Caramujo, Penha, Cidade de Deus (City of God), Manguinhos, Maré and Rocinha are already included on the interactive map, with scope for others to be added as the repertoire expands.
The diverse cultural recreations and institutions currently divulged include crafts, carnival productions, cultural centers, cinema, circus, digital culture, dance, photography, fashion, museums, musical performances, meeting centers and theatre.
The maps for each region are color coded according to principal activities on offer - Users can click on the institution in question to find contact information, short descriptions, photos, videos and links to accompanying social media pages.
