The Instituto Pereira Passos (IPP) (Pereira Passos Institute) developed the ten Cadernos do Rio: Favela x Năo Favela (Rio Notebooks: Favela vs Not Favela). produced over two years of extensive and thorough research, and published in 2013 these notebooks form a portrait of the city, covering various topics of interst.
The IPP was able to construct a map of the municipality, unprecedented in its regional detail. By breaking down the city into clear geographical areas, the report helps to improve regionalization of policies and hence, reduce inequality in Rio. Profiles were drawn up of districts and Planning Regions, considering the following topics: Favelas and formal districts, Labor Market, Education, Demographic, Disability, Religion, Migration, Youth, Income, Consumption of Goods and Living Conditions. The report collects different specialist opinions and analysis, strengthening the IPP's role as a permanent channel of research, reflection and dialogue between the city hall and society.
