In 2015, famous singer Madonna purchased property in vidigal, joining the likes of other illustrious homeowners in the community, including David Beckham and Kanye West.

the monthly rent for a basic small two-room home ranges from about br$ 300 to br$ 1200, mostly depending on the location of the favela, and the proximity of the house to the street where main public transportation is available.
