ilha de contuba is an uninhabited island sitting less than one kilometer directly east of morro do leme.

because of their proximity both contuba and leme are preserved in the same environmental protection zone.

when viewed from above, the island appears in the shape of a semicolon, with the point covered in vegetation and the comma made entirely of rock - the main segment measures 60 meters at its highest point.
