the architect in charge made his own home on the path, known widely as olaria da gávea, translated in english to 'the brickyard.' the desing now widely considered a landmark of neoclassical architecture.

nowadays, the cultural center the private university puc-rio houses the mansion - it has been transformed into a historical museum, open to visits by members of the community and the general public.

at the highest peak of the caminho da boa vista stood the country house of jose antónio pimenta bueno, the marquis of são vicente, who the street was eventually named after.
