at a glance

loved by many visitors and locals alike, the small stretch of land that unites copacabana to ipanema is called arpoador.

home to just a few streets, this area is not an official neighborhood, however the area is referred by this name, including on many maps, street signs, and by all locals - also called posto nobre (noble post), in reference to the lifeguard towers called 'postos', arpoador is tiny, but rich of important landmarks.

first among them is the pedra de arpoador (rock of arpoador) - a neck of land which enters the atlantic ocean, right between the arpoador beach to the west, and the agitated devil's beach to the east.   arrow-back      arrow-forward
