at a glance

in 1960, with the change of the nation's capital to brasilia, and the fusion of the states of guanabara and rio de janeiro, in 1975, niterói would eventually lose its status. rio de janeiro proper would become the capital for the state, yet this wasnt completely damaging to niterói as the changes became an important pivoting point for the local industry and economy, setting the stage for its current prosperity.

due to its outstanding location, the city presents several prized natural treasures. niterói's oceanic beaches are wide and covered in white sand, bathed by the waters of the atlantic ocean, similarly to some of rio's best beaches.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
